An Accra circuit court on Monday remanded Iddrisu Issifu and Kwaku Sammy, both unemployed, into police custody for conspiracy to commit crime, robbery, attempt to commit crime and allegedly possessing Military Accoutrement.

The two accused persons, who pleaded guilty to the count of possessing Military Accoutrement, would re-appear on October 22.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Patrick Morkeh, told the court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri, that on October 9, whilst the odorkor patrol team was on duty they had information that the accused persons had robbed a taxi driver at knife point at race course, Sowutuom area.

He said after the robbery the accused persons boarded a Daewoo taxi cab with registration number GS 2103-13 and were in the process of robbing the said taxi as well.

He said the patrol team mounted a road block at Sowutuom in search for the accused persons.

?During the road block they arrested the accused persons on board the Daewoo taxi cab and when a search was conducted on them one jack knife, a hammer and cash in the sum of GH?44.00 were retrieved,? he added.

DSP Morkeh said it was also observed that Iddrisu, alias Capito, was wearing four T-shirts whilst Sammy, alias Tugu, was wearing six T-shirts.

The prosecution said during interrogation the accused persons admitted to having robbed a taxi driver at the race course area the same day and had an amount of GH?44.00.

?They also stated that as part of their modus operandi, they removed each of the T-shirts after the robbery operations for them not to be identified by their victims,? the Prosecution said.

He said a search on the accused person?s place of abodes revealed Military uniforms and kit bags, investigations are still ongoing.
