An Accra Circuit Court has remanded two persons into police custody for unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage, stealing, abetment of crime and possessing firearm and ammunition.

The accused Daniel Kwaku Essel, interior decorator and Eric Kyeremeh, trader, pleaded not guilty to the various charges and would reappear on January 28.

Daniel was accused of unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage, stealing and abetment of crime, while Eric was accused of abetment of crime and possessing firearm and ammunition without authority.

Prosecuting,Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo, told the court presided over by Aboagye Tandoh that on January 4, 2019 at about 0200 hours, the Mamprobi Police had information that the accused persons were having a pump action shot gun and cartridges and were offering it for sale in the area.

He said a witness in the case posed as a prospective buyer and arranged with the accused persons to meet him at Mallam Junction, where a team of policemen had lay ambush for them.

He said the accused persons appeared at the scene to sell the gun but were arrested together with the pump action shot gun and 75 pieces of A.A cartridges.

He said investigations later established that on December 31, last year at about 2250 hours, Daniel, who was a former employee of the complainant, went to his house at Krispol City, Kasoa, when the entire household had gone to church to usher in the New Year.

The prosecution said Daniel scaled over the fence and used a hacksaw blade to cut the burglar proof metals, gained access into the main building and stole one laptop computer, one Samsung phone, wrist watch and one pump action shot gun with 75 pieces of cartridges from the complainant’s bedroom.

He said “Daniel from there went and gave the booty to Eric for safe keeping around 0300 hours on January 1, 2019 and the following morning Eric disposing some of the booty sold the laptop for GH¢300 and the mobile phone for GH¢100.00 and shared the proceeds with Daniel”.

Chief Inspector Dosoo said on January 1, 2019 the two accused persons came to town to look for a buyer for the gun and this led to their arrest.
