As part of this year?s World AIDS Day Celebration,  Allianz Insurance Ghana and Technip Engineering Company limited has presented a cheque of GH?10, 000 each to OrphanAid Africa, a non-government organisation at Dodowa.

This year?s theme for World AIDS Day is ?Getting to zero: zero new HIV infections. Zero discrimination. Zero AIDS related deaths?.

The Day which is celebrated on December 1 is used to create awareness on the pandemic and also select a global theme that will spearhead and provide a head on approach to combating latest developments in HIV and AIDS.

Mr Patrick Prado, Managing of Allianz, said the donation was part of their corporate social responsibility and their contribution towards supporting OrphanAid Africa to take care of orphans and the vulnerable.

He said creating awareness on the disease was one of their priorities to contribute to the goal of minimizing new infections and removing discrimination by 2015.

He said his outfit has been partnership with the organisation and would continue to support in the development of the children.

Mr Stephane Sole, Country Manager for Technip, an Oil and Gas company, said the organisation has been working in the areas of education, health and education to support OrphanAid Africa.

He said the company has constructed a Junior High School to improve on teaching and learning of the children and teachers.

He said plans are advanced to support the orphanage in the construction of a sport complex to enhance sports talent development among the children.

Ms Lisa Love-Smith, Founder and President of OrphanAid Africa, commended the two institutions for their gesture and called on other institutions to support the orphanage.

Ghana marked the Day earlier on 26 November, 2012, at Cape Coast, because of the pending December 7 general elections.
