Heavy rainfall on Sunday has left numerous residents in the capital city homeless, with widespread flooding disrupting daily life.
The downpour, which began around 1 p.m., flooded several communities, including major streets, trapping vehicles and stranding motorists. Hardest hit were areas like Ashiyie, Adenta, East Legon Hills, and surrounding neighborhoods, where residents are urgently appealing to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for assistance.
Though the rain ceased around 5 p.m., many homes remain submerged, forcing residents to seek temporary shelter.
The severe flooding highlights ongoing concerns about unchecked construction on waterways, a persistent issue despite repeated warnings from city planners and environmentalists.
