In the statement, Togolese armed forces, a total of 11,000 persons, hailed the progress achieved by the country under the rule of Faure Gnassingbe who is in power since 2005.

“All these could not be done without peace and security as well as conditions for sustainable development,” the army said in the statement read by spokesman Lt-Colonel Fiawofia Doagbodzi of the national gendarmerie.

“We, defense and security forces, therefore make solemn commitment to spare no effort to preserve that climate”, the statement added.

According to the statement, Togo “regains its position within the communities of the safest nations” while the Togolese armed forces “efficiently contribute” to the preservation of international security.

The Togolese armed forces, the statement said, act as a modern and efficient army able to meet all security challenges, in a world increasingly marked by all kind of threats”. Enditem
