Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of Tigo Mobile, has made a passionate commitment to support health service delivery in the country.

The General Manager of Tigo Ghana, Adil El Youssefi, has said improving access to health care and provision of infrastructure remains crucial in the Company?s corporate social responsibilities,  

According to him, the challenge to achieve the Millennium Development Goal on maternal mortality should not be the exclusive responsibility of the government but all parties working together to save mothers and children from preventable deaths.

Mr. El Youssefi said this when he cut the tape to officially open and hand over a newly-constructed building for the Reproductive and Child Unit of the Atwima Mponua District Hospital at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region. Tigo Ghana also donated some health equipment to facilitate quality health delivery.

He added that Tigo Ghana will continue to initiate and implement CSR programmes to help achieve the desired objectives. ?We will as part of our Corporate Social Initiatives continue to support the relevant stakeholders in achieving these objectives by responding positively to calls of this kind,? he said.

Medical Superintendant of the Atwima Mponua District Hospital, Alhaji Dr. Yusif Alhassan, on behalf of the hospital expressed his profound gratitude to Tigo Ghana for the kind gesture, and pledged to maintain the facility so that the Company will not regret investing in it.

In another development recently, Tigo Ghana in collaboration with Shaft FM in Obuasi organised a one-day health walk at the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
