The 29th edition of Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa is only a few hours away to Saturday?s kick-off and public interest has soared leading to a total sell-out.

Tickets for the opening of the ultimate soccer tournament on African soil are said to be sold out, South Africa had a year to prepare after Libya bombed-out. Addressing the media on Friday, Local Organising Committee CEO Mvuzo Mbebe said, ?We had a target of 500 000 sale-tickets which we reached and went beyond with 850 000 capacity? which is a record for a continental competition. A double-header clash led by the host nation, South Africa and tournament debutants, Cape Verde followed by Angola and Morocco will set the mood of the tournament. ?As always there will be glitches when hosting these kind of tournament but we believe that we are ready and that the opening will be memorable.?About 4500 security personnel will be deployed, and 2500 volunteers and more visible everywhere. Spectators should enjoy themselves.?In general we are very optimistic about the future of the tournament,? concluded Mbebe.
