Ghanaian ‘foodies’ will be able to sample a range of delicious meals from the best eateries in and around the city; enjoying everything from kelewele to kenkey; smoothies to sandwiches; Ghanaian to European food and much more.

This year’s Vittles food festival will take place at the plush Regent Gardens, adjacent to the luxurious African Regent Hotel, between 29 and 31 July, 2016.

Explaining the “bolder and better” theme for Vittles 2016, Leroy Ankrah, Principal Consultant at Diffusion Ltd, says the company worked with key lessons learned during the maiden event in December last year to plan the 2016 edition. “We’re also introducing our first ever ‘Cacao Show,’ mini-event, which places a spotlight on the dessert part of the meal,” he says.

The ‘Cacao Show’ is a specialised competition open to bakers, chefs, chocolatiers, patissiers etc, to showcase their skills at using cocoa and chocolate products for cooking. “The competition helps us taste, and also learn, just how versatile one of Ghana’s most important products actually is, while also bringing together and rewarding some of the most talented bakers, cooks and chocolatiers in town with some fabulous surprises,” says Ankrah.

Mrs. Fiona Morton, CEO of Fiona’s Foods, said she is “eagerly looking forward” to this year’s edition of the Vittles food festival. “I was very impressed that the organisers provided us with sinks and running water, and also provided a hand wash station for guests. It’s really important for me that cooking and eating is done in a clean environment,” she says.

Vittles 2016 retains the ‘something for everyone’ concept of the previous event –preserving specialised areas such as the Beer Garden and Children’s Zone, alongside live music, a Cooking Competition for Vocational/Culinary school graduates;and Food Challengesthat are open to the general public.

Diffusion Ltdis also maintaining its partnership with the Ghana branch of global anti-poverty charity organisation, The Hunger Project. The Vittles 2016 food festival event is helping to raise awareness and funding, through a portionof the gate proceeds, to support The Hunger Project’s activities in Ghana.

Vittles 2016 is also supported by The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana,African Regent Hotel and BerryBears Kids Events.
