wpid-mali-516722186.jpgI suggested this quite a while ago, and I may be on the brink of being vindicated, for just the other day, a news article appeared on most of the popular Ghanaian websites claiming that the legally embattled President John Dramani Mahama intended to assemble a team of 4,800 witnesses to swamp the Supreme Court. If this piece of news has validity, then it is the first official admission of guilt on the part of the man who has allegedly ?instructed? the Ghana Supreme Court to dismiss the New Patriotic Party lawsuit challenging his political legitimacy.

At this juncture, however, I am more interested in an article that appeared on Modernghana.com on January 12, 2013, and was sourced to Citifmonline.com titled ?Frimpong-Boateng Throws Weight Behind NPP Court Action.? The article was based on an interview conducted with the former New Patriotic Party presidential candidate and former Chief Executive Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital by Citifmonline.com, in which the former Akufo-Addo rival vehemently denies having impugned the substance and credibility of the NPP lawsuit challenging the legitimacy of President Mahama.

My interest here primarily regards the quite formidable manner in which paid propagandists of the National Democratic Congress have been desperately attempting to confuse the Ghanaian public, particularly supporters and sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party, into facilely accepting the morally and intellectually unacceptable. But even more significantly, such propagandistic gimmickry underscores the scandalous extent to which key NDC operatives are willing to go in order to ensure that their paymaster hangs on to power come rain or shine.

Elsewhere, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has actually been reported to have said that he has personally familiarized himself with the documents on which the Akufo-Addo lawsuit was based and can only? unreservedly? throw his weight and credibility squarely behind the same. Now, this ought to send a strong message to the mischief-making NDC operatives and hirelings that their cup ? in Biblical parlance ? is full. You see, in the era of the Internet, the sort of dirty propaganda that facilitated the easy demonization of the Danquah-Dombo-Busia-led United Party (UP) by the Nkrumah-led Convention People?s Party (CPP) will not work, for the Internet is too globally instantaneous to allow for lies to remain unchallenged in the public domain for more than 24 hours at the most.

What the foregoing means, of course, is that the window of opportunity for the Mahama lackeys to plant insidious lies into the minds of unsuspecting and poorly informed sections of the Ghanaian public is very limited, indeed. But it is also precisely for this reason that the propaganda ? I prefer either the media or communication ? wing of the New Patriotic Party ought to be at least up to snuff or on par with their counterparts of the so-called National Democratic Congress.

In reality, the relatively far more enlightened media operatives of the NPP ought to place themselves at least one step ahead of the NDC propagandists. What this means is that the Akufo-Addo supporters ought to promptly and massively engage the services of media experts in order to be able to anticipate the mendacious media antics of the Trokosi nationalist group of newspapers and their bullish and carcinogenic Bolgatanga Abongo Boys, such as Alhaji Iddrisu Bature and his so-called Al-Hajj newspaper, which is nothing short of a terror-mongering rag. For the most part, the NPP has not been doing very badly, though it could do much, much better.

Needless to say, when Professor Frimpong-Boateng makes the following observation: ?I must tell you that I have not written anything, I have also not had any discussions or interviews with any person that will prompt him or her to write that kind of thing in the newspapers. It is certainly not from me,? he erroneously presumes that his political opponents and detractors are forthright and morally upright like himself and his associates.

In other words, what I am saying here is that the inveterate political opponents of Professor Frimpong-Boateng and the key operatives of the main opposition New Patriotic Party have absolutely no respect for truth and honesty, whatsoever. Everything is absurdly reduced to a game of numbers as well as who can best mislead the largest possible percentage of Ghanaians into believing that, yes, President John Dramani Mahama is first and foremost for the collective interests of the country and a progressively inclusive government.

It is almost as if none of us ever heard of Nkrumah?s megalomaniacal concept of ?Unitary Governance? or the ?One-Party State,? let alone the Acheampong-minted variation of the ?Union/Unity Government.?
