Amended Quest AgendaThe Quest Sports Management Company Ltd, endorsed by the Ghana Golf Association with support from the local PGA have successfully launched a Professional Golf Tour that will usher into being a regular competitive Golf platform to provide exposure and opportunities for professional golfers in Ghana, the sub-region and beyond.

At the launch of The Quest 2014 Tour at Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra on 31st July 2013; Professional golfers from across the country were presented with the vision and objectives of The Quest and were encouraged to use its platform as aninvaluable opportunity to improve their fortunes.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Mark Cofie Jnr., a Director of The Quest reiterated the need for golfers to seize the opportunity of the upcoming tour to increase their profile and demonstrate their skill and talent on the world stage.

He opined that, the professional Golf Tour would serve as a platform for local pros to improve themselves on all fronts ?and therefore encouraged them to meet the challenges that lie ahead and embrace the opportunities the tour provided.

The Quest 2014 Tour will commence with an inaugural golf tournament on the 17th ? 20th September 2013 at the Tema Country Golf Club. This exciting event will feature local pros as well as their counterparts from Golfing Associations in the sub-region.

It was estimated that the total purse would be a minimum of Twenty-Five Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH?25, 000) and the winner was assured of at least Six Thousand

Ghana Cedis (GH?6,000). ?A cross section of pros who spoke to The Golfer newspaper saw the upcoming tour as a window of opportunity for them.

Vincent Torgah, a Ghanaian professional golfer who plays on the Nigeria PGA explained that, ?Now there is something to look up to on a regular basis in Ghana,? adding that: ?most of us largely depend on golf events from other African countries so the coming in of The Quest Golf Tour will surely broaden our scope to earn more.?

The Quest anticipates hosting at least six tournaments during the 2014 season at various courses in Ghana.

Mr. Yaw Assah-Sam, The Managing Director of The Quest encouraged the professional golfers to uphold the tenets of the game and observe discipline at all times thus ensuring they enjoyed the innumerable benefits that came with the tour.

The third Director of The Quest; Richard Boateng, Esq.? explained that The Quest was committed to ensuring each tournament received as much media exposure as was possible and asked the golfers to maximize the opportunity and create more opportunities for themselves.

Dr. Frempong, President of the Ghana Golf Association intimated that with The Quest assuming the responsibility of organizing tournaments for Professional golfers, ?it gives my outfit the needed space to concentrate on developing Amateur and Junior golf in Ghana.?

He however assured The Quest of his total support on the journey of transforming professional golf and making it a viable venture in Ghana.

The launch was blessed with the presence of Dr. Sam Jonah (Chief Patron of the Quest), Kwesi Amoafo ? Yeboah (Patron) and Tom Kennedy, Director of Golf, Ghana all of whom echoed the sentiments expressed above.
