When you’re one of the world’s biggest and most instantly recognizable fashion brands, you can afford to build and design the stores your goods are sold in. But Louis Vuitton has gone one step further by building its own island to house its newest store in Singapore. Based in the city state’s Marina Bay Sands development, Louis Vuitton Island Maison is a 25,000-square-foot glass pavilion featuring some 300 skylight panels providing natural light. But, as any good fashion designer knows, sunlight can fade clothes, so on each panel a UV-resistant membrane has been attached, along with 20 foot-long sunshades to keep out the harshest of the sun’s rays from damaging the goods inside.Inside, the store is decked with wood paneling on the floors and soft cream-and-white color codes to give the space an even lighter feel.
