Mohamed Ali Ag Wadossene, a terrorist freed in December last year in exchange of a French hostage, was killed on Sunday during an operation by French soldiers in the Tigharghar mountains in northern Mali, Malian intelligence services said Monday.

MaliWadossene who had been arrested for participation in the kidnapping of French hostage Serge Lazarevic, was freed in exchange of the French hostage, following talks between the Malian government and armed groups of the north.
His liberation had been interpreted by many in Mali as a sign of “weakness” by the government.

“His death confirms the promise by Mali President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita to track all the criminals to their hiding places,” a statement from the security services said.

Following the liberation of Wadossene in exchange for the French hostage, Keita had promised to eliminate all terrorists on Malian national territory, the statement recalled. Enditem
