The Defence Headquarters has said that the ongoing opera?tions in Baga, Borno State, par?ticularly, the cordon-and-search operation has revealed some ter?rorists disguisied as women.
?The searches are also yielding more discoveries of arms, espe?cially, bombs hidden in various locations, especially, Baga town, the Director, Defence Informa?tion, Major General Chris Olu?kolade, said in a statement on Monday.
He said that, apart from those terrorists that were captured in the course of fighting, many oth?ers who hid in the town were be?ing arrested and investigated by the troops.
Meanwhile, in furtherance of the mission to dislodge terrorists from their enclaves by the mili?tary, the Nigerian Air Force had stepped up its air bombardment of identified targets in Gwoza, Bama and Sambisa forest, prepa?ratory to other phases of the mis?sion.
?The air strikes have been highly successful, as they hit vital targets with required precision. Terrorists are now in disarray as they scamper to escape the inces?sant air bombardment of their locations in the forest?, he added.
He said that having success?fully liberated Baga, where the terrorists have been pillaging, the advancing troops are focused on the security of the area to pave way for the return of the people.
