United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) representative, Dennia Gayle, said this on Friday during the handover of reproductive health commodities worth 500,000 U.S. dollars to the Ministry of Health and social Services, in Windhoek.

The UNFPA handed over contraceptives to the ministry as part of the 5th Namibia/UNFPA Country Program Support for Namibia. Namibia is among the 10 countries that will be benefiting from the 28.4 million U.S. dollars financial support under the UNFPA regional program.

Deputy Minister of Health and social services, Juliet Kavetuna when delivering her speech, said, “young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights are crucial in this respect.”

“When a young women can avoid unintended pregnancy and have control over their own life, their chances to receive education of find a job increase,” she added.
