Tanzania’s oil and gas exploration companies have not been observing outlined regulations in the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), according to the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF).

WWF manager for the East African zone, Oil and Gas exploration, Cassian Lushinge, said firms have been running their activities in and along the coast of the country without SEA guidelines.

“The country only has Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) guidelines, which are merely project- based and are not comprehensive,” Mr Lushinge, an environment engineer, said.
