Acting Simiyu Regional Police Commander Lazaro Mambosasa said Mashaka is alleged to be a poaching kingpin in the Tanzania’s Lake Zone, who has been colluding with poachers and providing them with firearms for conducting the illegal business.

The police commander said Mashaka is also believed to be a mastermind behind the shooting and killing of a helicopter pilot in a game reserve close to Serengeti National Park.

Mambosasa said so far, along with the arrest of Mashaka, nine suspects have arrested in connection with the shooting and killing of a British national, Roger Gower, who was killed in a regular patrol on chopper on Jan. 29 in the Maswa Game Reserve, which lies on the southern part of Serengeti National Park and NCAA.

Mambosasa said one of the suspects, Dotto Pangali, managed to shoot on the chopper using a rifle. Enditem
