The confirmation comes amid speculation that the country would miss out on the event following failure by the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) to raise 366,568 U.S. dollars in entry fees and cost of hosting pavilions at the event.

Back in July, TTB was reported to be struggling to raise the said amount, thus delaying confirming the country’s participation in the expo that brings together 50,000 attendees from 182 countries around the world.

Geofrey Tengeneza, TTB’s Principal Public Relations Officer said the country would be represented in the expo after the government met all the requirements.

According to Tengeneza, at least 42 tour operating companies and hoteliers had confirmed their participation in the event and were making all necessary preparations to have their pavilions and marquees on the ground.

He disclosed: “We have managed to raise 366,568 dollars and we will definitely be in London for the expo.”

The TTB official also called upon tour operators and hoteliers who were yet to register for the event to do so, as time was running out.

Staged annually in London, World Travel Market is a business-to-business event presenting a diverse range of destinations and industry sectors to UK and international travel professionals.

It also provides a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business. Enditem
