Tanzania plans to conduct a research to establish the central point of the east African nation that would thereafter be upgraded for tourism attraction just like in other countries, a senior official said Friday.

Angelina Mabula, Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Lands, Housing and Human Settlements, said that once the point is established it can be used for tourist attraction, thus enable the government get in come through it.

“No study has shown the center point of the country but my ministry will soon carry out a research to establish the center of our country and use it for tourism purposes just like in other countries,” she said in Tanzania’s capital, Dodoma.

According to the minister, the study will also help to confirm whether the central Tanzania’s village of Chisinjisa in Manyoni district, Singida region is the central of the country as has always been argued.

Mabula detailed that if the envisaged comprehensive geomatics research will prove the area to be at the heart of the country, then the parent ministry will gazette the area in the State Newspaper.

She further said that the area that will be proved to be a Center Point of Tanzania, will be developed and publicized globally in order to attract foreign and local tourists, and this will spur the country’s economy.

Jumanne Maghembe, Minister for Tourism and Natural Resources, said once the study is done, his ministry will make the area as one of the country’s tourist destinations. Enditem
