Tanzanian authorities said on Wednesday they have revoked 45 mining exploration licenses after holders failed to meet the required conditions.
Minister of Minerals Anthony Mavunde said the 45 revoked mining exploration licenses were out of 102 licenses issued to prospective miners in the Rukwa Region.
“The 45 revoked mining exploration licenses were for an area covering 812,383 hectares in the Rukwa Region, but there was no exploration done in the area for quite a long time,” said Mavunde in a meeting with mining stakeholders held in the Sumbawanga District, Rukwa.
Mavunde added that the revoked licenses would be reassigned to individuals interested in conducting mining exploration in the area.
