In a statement, the economy and finance ministry said the project aims to, among other issues, increase the level of mobilization of internal resources through improved quality and security of tax collection circuit.

It will equally help to stabilize tax collection by establishing a register of tax payers, effectively addressing the challenge of tax evasion, promote respect for voluntary tax payment and correctness of declared taxes, it added.

The government welcomed the Swiss support, noting that it was in line with its vision of enhancing good governance in tax collection.

In early April, Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kabore expressed concern over the state of the country’s finances, and urged the concerned finance ministry to review revenue collection methods.
