Andre Ayew has been linked with a move to Liverpool

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has dismissed any attempts by new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp to sign his star Andre Ayew as pure fantasy insisting they won?t release the Ghanaian winger even if an approach is made.

Reports have suggested that the German has set his sights on landing Ayew, who has impressed at Swansea since arriving on a free transfer from Marseille this summer, and had made the 25-year-old his number one target come January.

But Monk insisted Ayew is fully ready for the Potters clash and said Klopp is barking up the wrong tree if reports of his desire to sign the striker are to be believed.

?The speculation starts earlier and earlier every year, but I don?t think about it,? said Monk.

?There is no point in me focusing on things like that, things are not reality. The things I need to concentrate on are the things in front of me that are reality.

?Until anyone comes to me and says anything concrete it is not worth thinking about.

?It is part of the game, players get linked everywhere, every year. That is part of the job and I never focus on that.

?It is not my concern if he is a Liverpool fan or not. I could say there are 1,000 players I admire in the game, but is there any point in that??

The links between Ayew and a move to Anfield took on extra spice when it was reported the player was actually a life-long Liverpool supporter himself.

In an interview Ayew reportedly spoke lovingly of the Merseysiders and said former Reds? legend, Steven Gerrard, was his favourite player of all time.

But Monk dismissed such notions and maintained that Ayew, who has four goals in eight Premier League games for the Welsh club so far this season, was fully committed to the Swans moving forward.

Monk commented: ?That?s great for him (if he is a Liverpool fan), we all have boyhood dreams, but I do not focus on that. I would be wasting my time if I worried about that. You can see he is committed to Swansea in how he plays and wants to do well for the club. That is all he has to worry about.?
