Former Nigeria international Taribo West has lauded the Super Eagles for their “togetherness” ahead of 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The 39-year-old, who was a key member of the Eagles’ squads at the 1998 and 2002 World Cups, knows all too well about the turmoil that has hurt the national team’s build up to big tournaments in the past.
West believes the Eagles could be the surprise package at the championships because of their squad harmony.
“We have a very good team and there are nothing to fear about at this present time,” the former Inter Milan centre-back told the Daily Trust.
“What I have seen in this young lads is that they can make a very strong champions team. There is togetherness, spirit of oneness and love in the team.
“When you take a team like that to a tournament, you can’t predict them. When this kind of ingredient is available in a team, it makes the team strong as a unit against any opponents,” he added.
Nigeria are in Group F with Argentina, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iran.
