Madam Agnes Kusi, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the amount was part of the two per cent disability fund from the District’s share of the District Assembly’s Common Fund for the second quarter of 2016.

Madam Kusi said the fund was disbursed following applications made by the beneficiaries for various purposes including petty trading, farming, education, medical support and acquisition of assisting devices.

She advised them to desist from sitting at the traffic lights, road sides and market places to beg for alms since they have the potential and abilities that could be utilised to support themselves and their families.

Madam Kusi said there are many PWDs who have been able to pursue education to the highest level and have become astute professionals in the society.

She therefore entreated them to use the money for its intended purposes to improve their living conditions.

Mr Isaac Owusu Ansah, Sunyani West Chairman of the Ghana Federation of the Disabled, said the Federation would ensure that the funds are used judiciously.
