Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, is delighted at ongoing works of the Multipurpose Youth and Sports Centres, nationwide.

Mr Asiamah, made this known when he visited the Axim centre to inspect the progress of work at the 5,000 seating capacity centre, which would have a FIFA standard football playing pitch, basket ball court, volleyball court, handball pitch, gymnasium, Olympic standard tartan tracks, youth counseling centre, ICT centre, modern restaurant and a hostel facility.

According to the Member of Parliament for the Atwima Mponua Constituency, he was impressed with the works done at all the centres, he has visited so far.

“I must confess, I am happy at what I am seeing here today, it’s always good, when you get local contractors doing such magnificent works.

“This region has seen a major rainy season, but despite all that, the contractor has been able to complete majority of the work and that is worth commending.

“There was massive progress at Ho and Koforidua as well and they are all local contractors bringing their ingenuity to play, which is worth noting,” he said.

In an interview with Mr Emmanuel Asigiri, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority, (NYA), he said, the centre would be very beneficial to the people of Axim and it’s environs looking at the quality of work done so far.

“I have visited this site on several occasions and I must confess I am very delighted significant progress on site.

“The quality of work is marvelous and it would go a long way to benefit Ghana and the people of Axim and it’s environs.

“We are waiting for the completion of this work for the youth to start using the facility and enjoy what is theirs,” he added.
