Truth they say is like a foetus in a womb it will definitely grow, in other words, one cannot forever hide her pregnancy from the public. We have adopted multiparty democracy as our political system but have not the political courage to practice it to the latter, we concentrate more on the?advantages but can?t face the other tough aspect of it.

The NPP and its sympathizers have always denied friction in their party when even their own open utterances and demeanor suggest that. We have talked severally about the Kufuor versus Akufo-Addo block but they always downplay it calling those mentioning that as propagandists. Thank God for the first time some pillars in the party have come out openly to accept the fact that the factions exist. I listened to an interview granted the Asempa FM crew in Tamale by an NPP stalwart at the instance of O.B. Amoah and they openly accepted the fact that the Kufuor and Akufo-Addo factions really exist in the NPP.

The fact is having factions in a political organization isn?t anything new and with the Danquah/Busia tradition this isn?t the first experience so see no reason why they unnecessarily try hard to hide this obvious truth from the public. What i see as dangerous is internal friction based on ethnicity apart from that, other dynamics are common features of political institutions. If you visit advanced democracies, they have these internal differences usually based on internal ideological differences, they have leftist and within that political unit, ?have center left and the intellectuals who attaches strict theoretical propositions to their ideological beliefs, with the rightists, they are have the conservative rightists, the moderates or the center right and all that, remember the case or clash between a minister in the Labour Party Mr Ernest Bevin and one left wing unionist Aneurin Bevan over the infamous working class regulation Act IA(a)? these differences help build party instead of breaking it like we are seeing.

The danger facing the NPP ?today is that, the friction within are not based on anything scientific but rather, based on hero worshiping and determination to retain an individual just to thwart efforts of another group perceived as anti their found hero. To revolve a political organization around an individual is the most dangerous decision to take especially in a country where political awareness is growing fast. The only gain from this political decision is retention or reduction of party?s vote but nothing like addition. The NPP cannot win political power in this country if some loud mouthed supporters continue to subjugate another group who may be effective underground but not vociferous.

This is what we seeing now, after years of artificial subjugation the Kufuor block has gathered unprecedented confidence and the irony is that, most of its elements have succeeded in pushing themselves through the Akufo-Addo block but still committed to the Kufour philosophy. Many pretentiously went into the Akufo-Addo school to help them achieve their goals and have succeeded doing that.

This has been the bane of the NPP all these while but unfortunately, these vociferous supporters of the Akufo-Addo block were masterfully roped in to support the supreme court antics wasting the partys time to do soul searching, they were deceived into believing a well orchestrated move by Obetsebi and Sir John to cover their shame after that abysmal performance. Today the question these persons ask delegates who question their capabilities is that, if you think we didn?t perform, then why did you support the supreme court case. This is how smart these people played the game unfortunately they are now facing another group who aren?t ready to compromise on these trivialities.

As the party prepare for tomorrow,we wish discerning minds in the party come out clear to speak the truth by exposing the rot in the party through positve voting. If it will take ten years for the right decisions to be taken,it must be followed steadily to clear all the miscreants in the party. The party is now going through real transformation and the Kufour faction representing the Busia,Victor Owusu block must be steadfast else they otherside will subtly take over the destiny of the party. There is nothing wrong defending a position you inwardly support. I feel sad when i hear people making Dombo and Abayefa Kabo noise, it is better they arrange themselves well within the npp and fight for genuine recognition that allowing themselves to be toyed with for political expediency. The block which genuinely represent the interest of the Dombo Abayefa group, is the Kufour block and they must know that.
