Honourable Emmanuel A. O. Lartey, District Chief Executive (DCE) of the Shai-Osudoku District Assembly has said that the Assembly was able to mobilize GH?1,632,342.00 as Internally Generated Fund (IGF) for the year 2012.

He hinted that the amount represented 50 percent improvement of the estimated figure for the year which totaled at GH?1,082,976.00. Hon. Lartey stated that for this year, the Assembly has projected an estimated sum of GH?2,008.008 by 31st December, 2013 from its IGF.

He hopes he can count on the support of honourable members of the assembly and heads of units and departments to achieve the projection. He expressed his gratitude and appreciation to members for their invaluable roles they have been playing within their various electoral areas and communities and commended the departments and units? heads for their dedicated services.

Hon. Lartey was addressing assembly members, heads of departments and units at the 3rd Ordinary Meeting of the 2nd Session of the Assembly at the Guggisberg Memorial Hall at Dodowa in the Shai-Osudoku District of the Greater Accra region. He said that in line with the policy of National Democratic Congress?s administration to ensure that decentralization work efficiently, the government has recruited staff for various service responsibilities carried out by the various assemblies throughout the country.

Hon. Lartey told the Assembly that Shai-Osudoku District Assembly received 21 new officers, including Administrative Officers, Human Resource Managers, Technicians, Engineers and Internal Auditors, adding ?I can confidently say that any challenges we have with human resource materials have been addressed?. The DCE pointed out that in connection with the contribution of 120 beds to the District?s Ultra-Modern Hospital, a large delegation from the United Kingdom led by the former Deputy Minister for Health, Hon. Rojo Mettle Nunoo recently visited the Assembly who undertook field trips to the proposed site for the project.

He indicated that at the site, certain sentiments were expressed by owners concerning few unauthorized structures scattered on the Assembly?s acquired land intended for public projects have pushed the Assembly towards getting matters resolved in good time to pave way for projects to take off on schedule. Hon. Lartey called members attention to personal intervention in the strike action embarked on by Golden Exotic Banana Farms workers against the management over demands for salary increase.

He urged the Assembly to endeavour to maintain close relationship with all institutions or organizations within the district so that the Assembly can quickly step in to mediate industrial conflicts to promote peaceful in the District. DCE Lartey informed the Assembly that preparatory arrangements are being carried out on the 1000 low cost units planned for workers at Kasunya.

He revealed that the first phase will consist of 300 units, adding that the rational behind the construction is ?to ensure that the workers do not live far from their work place and to reducing transportation cost. On his part, Hon. Emmanuel Adjartey, Presiding Member of the Assembly said that members should be more proactive in issues concerning the District and also live up to expectation in the business of the house, especially at the sub-committee levels, where recommendations are passed by the house for approval by the house.
