Black Stars head coach, Kwasi Appiah, has named Black Stars B skipper, Shafiu Mumuni, in his 23-man squad to face South Africa and São Tomé and Principe in a 2021 AFCON double header on November 14 and 18 respectively.

Mumuni, who carried Ghana on his shoulders to finish second at the recent WAFU Cup of Nations in Senegal as the tournament’s top scorer with four goals, will be making his debut in the senior national team.

He was the only home-based player in the squad, aside Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Felix Annan.

The 24-year-old clinical finisher has been on the radar of many clubs in Europea and Asia following his excellent performance at the WAFU tournament.

Also making their debut are former WAFA goalkeeper, Razak Abalora, of Azam FC in Tanzania, Torric Jibril (TP Mazembe), Mohammed Kudus (FC Nordsjaelland, Denmark), Iddrisu Baba (Real Mallorca, Spain), Christopher Antwi-Adjei (SC Paderborn, Germany), and Mohammed Salisu (Real Valladolid, Spain).

Two other players who will be staging a comeback after a long absence are US-based Harrison Afful and China-based Emmanuel Boateng.

Conspicuously missing from the squad is general captain, Asamoah Gyan, who now plies his trade with NorthEast United in India.
