The toll of the attack on the military camp in Kati, a garrison town 15 km from Bamako, the capital of Mali, has risen, with two to seven “terrorists” killed, according to a statement published Friday afternoon by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations of the Armed Forces (Dirpa).

The statement also said one soldier was killed, six more wounded — five soldiers and one civilian — and eight assailants were arrested.

“Early this morning, around 05:00 a.m., Katiba Macina terrorists attempted kamikaze actions with 2 vehicles packed with explosives against an installation of the Departement for Equipment, Hydrocarbons and Transport of the Armed Forces,” said the Dirpa in the statement, which described the assaults as “desperate attempts.”

On Friday morning, the Malian Armed Forces said on their official website that two “terrorists” were killed in an attack on the Kati military camp. Enditem
