Israeli security services raided settlements overnight Saturday and early Sunday, arresting seven Jewish extremists for questioning, the Israeli police spokesperson confirmed to Xinhua.

IsraeliThe Israeli Police along with the Shin Bet Security Agency cooperated in the raid over several homes in the outposts, among other outposts of Adei Ad and Kochav Hashachar in the West Bank, both in the surroundings of the Palestinian village of Duma.

No further information about the reason for the arrests was given by the police, but it is believed the suspects were involved in attacks against Palestinians.

Last week, a firebomb believed to have been hurled by Jewish extremists killed an 18-month-old baby and his father and seriously wounded his mother and brother in the village of Duma.

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon ordered the defense echelon last week to use administrative detention against Jewish extremists believed to be involved in carrying militant attacks against Palestinians.
This tool, which means incarceration for a period of time without trial, is usually used against Palestinians who are suspected of militant acts against Israelis.

Israeli security services are trying to prevent an escalation in the tensions in the West Bank, after Sa’ad Dawabsha, the father of the Dawabsha family from Duma who lost their 18-month-old baby, died from his wounds on Saturday.

A defense official told the Israel Radio on Sunday that the Israeli security establishment is coordinated with the Palestinian Authority, fearing revenge attack from Palestinian groups.

Last Thursday, three Israeli soldiers were injured, two of them in serious condition, when a Palestinian plowed his car into them in the West Bank near the Palestinian village of Sinjil.

Two days earlier, two Israelis were injured in moderate and in light condition after a firebomb was hurled at their car in east Jerusalem. Enditem
