Arsene Wenger said Serge Gnabry has a big chance of going to the World Cup and the assistant manager of Germany isn?t disagreeing.

He has been the breakthrough youngster of the season and Gnabry could see his year get even better as he does indeed have the chance to make the plane for the World Cup.

Thrown in to the side after Theo Walcott?s injury, Gnabry has started the last two Arsenal games and looks set to play a more major role in the run-in than anyone expected before Theo?s cruciate went.

Eligible to play for the Ivory Coast through his father, Gnabry has represented Germany at youth level but there are rumours that the German?s could give him a call up to ensure that his allegiances are marked as early as possible.

That seems slightly far-fetched as the depth of talent the Germans have at their disposal means they are unlikely to just give away a World Cup spot, but Serge could certainly earn that place.

Speaking to the DfB site, Hansi Flick said: His [Gnabry?s] development is impressive. Against Aston Villa he played last from the beginning and was really very good.

?The game was very intense, very fast, and he was very well staged. In the [German] U 19?s, he is an important player, everything else will be seen.

?The ranks of the A-team is very well staffed, our quality in all positions high. Even in the middle right where he is usually used. But the door is not closed ? and this is true not only for him.

?If a player now plays a dominant second half [of the season] and we are in this position where we have exactly one vacancy, there is a window of opportunity.?
