The lawmakers react to alleged negative comments credited to Information Minister Labaran Maku

The Senate, on Tuesday, threatened to go tough on any member of the executive arm of government who “ridicules” the National Assembly.

Senate President David Mark issued the warning at a plenary where the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, was invited by the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs to tender apology to the upper chamber over alleged negative comments credited to him over legislative resolutions.

Reacting to the lawmakers’ resolution seeking the suspension of the proposed intorduction of the N5000 note, which was later adopted by President Goodluck Jonathan, Maku had allegedly said the lawmakers’ resolutions where not binding on the executive arm.

While tendering his apology to the senators, Maku said the words attributed to him were not his exact expression.
