Starcomms Nigeria Plc withdrew its sponsorship last November

Skye Bank is collaborating with the Lagos State Boxing Hall of Fame as co-sponsor of the monthly ‘Saturday Boxing Show’ aimed at developing amateur boxing in the state.

Olawale Edun, Chairman, Hall of Fame said that the bank had agreed to co-sponsor the 31st edition of the programme, adding that no long-term agreement was reached with the bank.

He urged other corporate organisations to assist in the development of amateur boxing in Lagos State by staking their monies in it.

“Skye Bank agreed to sponsor the 31st edition of the programme, we hope that they would sustain the sponsorship,” he said.

No corporate organisation had signified intention of co-sponsoring the programme since telecommunication company, Starcomms Nigeria Plc, withdrew its sponsorship in November 2011.

Starcomms said it withdrew from the programme due to the expiration of the terms of agreement with the Hall of Fame.
