Shop owners at Santasi roundabout, a suburb of Kumasi have invoked curses on the 2016 flagbearer of the United Progressive Party (UFP) Akwasi Addai popularly called ‘Odike’ for demolishing their wooden structures and kiosks numbering forty around 12 am on Tuesday.

The aggrieved women are accusing Odike of hiring ‘machomen’ to demolish their stores without serving them notice.

The women who have lost millions of Ghana cedis in the dawn demolition were spotted wailing.

The stores contained items such as gallons of cooking oil, cooking pots, provisions among others.

Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo reported that the affected women who ruined insults on Odike, further accused Osei Kwame Despite, owner of Despite Group of companies and the outgoing Ashanti regional police commander COP Nathan Kofi Boakye of being behind the demolition exercise.

‘We have lost everything, some of us acquired loans from the banks and now everything is gone, how can they be this heartless, do we have to steal before we can take care of our children who are in schools,’ they asked.

Some of the victims who had come from the Northern region to do brisk business said they will return to their home towns.

This is the second time such a demolition has taken place in the area.

Police have earlier stated that the shop owners were served letters to evacuate the place.
