Samuel Kyere unable to help his side progress in UEFA Champions League

Ghanaian Duo At Shirak Fc Crash Out Of Uefa Champions League

Ghanaian duo Samuel Kyere and Jacob Apau have crashed out of this season?s UEFA Champions League following Shirak FC?s barren draw with Partizan Belgrade on Wednesday night.

The Armenian club of the two Ghanian players failed to progress from the preliminary stages on the painful away-goals-rule.

Shirak played out a thrilling 1-1 draw with Partizan in the first leg match of the Champions League tie back in Gyumri.

This result proved to be the undoing of the Armenian champions as they bowed out of the competition despite putting up a brave fight in the return encounter on Wednesday which ended goalless.

Shirak also failed to let their one-man advantage count as Partizan?s Vladimir Volkov was sent off just 10 minutes into the second half.

While Ghanaian right-back Kyere played the entire duration of the game played in Belgrade, his compatriot Apau came on in the second half to replace Andranik Barikyan.

The changes however did later to alter the fate of Vardan Biachakhchyan?s side as they now have to focus their attention on defending their domestic league title.
