The minister-designate for Zongo and Inner City Development Alhaji Boniface Saddique has stated that the fund for the development of the ministry will not be disbursed at funerals and naming ceremonies.
He assured that the fund will be invested in ICT, education, drains and development of Zongos in the country.
‘The Zongo fund is not for funerals and naming ceremonies. If I attend a funeral as a friend, relative, I can give a donation in my capacity as a friend and not a donation coming from the Zongo fund. The fund will be an investment into ICT, education, drains and development of Zongos,’ he assured.
Alhaji Saddique assured that residents in Zongos will financially be supported to put them in businesses.
‘…There are majority of the residents in Zongo who don’t need much. An amount of GHC2,000, GHC5,000 will be all they need and if we can give them that they will be in business. For others they need technical expertise on projects that have started. It is time to groom young men and women across the Zongos and Ghana will change,’ he said.
He pledged to ensure that Arabic instructors in ‘makaranta’ schools in Zongos are put on Ministry of Employment pay-roll.
‘It is my duty to liaise with the two ministries- Education and Employment to ensure that these instructors are put on salary under the ministry of employment,’ he assured.
