Former Ghana U-17 star striker Saddick Adams expects experienced midfielder Derek Boateng to carry Ghana on his shoulders at the 2013 AFCON.

The 29-year-old Fulham-bound is one of the most experienced players in the Ghana team after making three AFCON appearances.

Boateng made his AFCON bow in the 2002 tournament hosted in Mali just after helping Ghana finish second in the 2001 World Youth Championship.

Adams who is back home with Berekum Chelsea wants the former FC Cologne midfielder to shoulder most of the responsibilities in South Africa.

?Derek Boateng is one good player and his experience will be very crucial to the team,? he said.

?This team is a blend of experience and youth and I think the senior players will have to use their experience to help the team.?
