Clement Oladele, State Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who disclosed this to reporters in Abeokuta, the state capital, added that over 1,143 persons were injured during the period.

Oladele said most of the accidents were due to excessive speed, which could have been avoided.

He said road accidents still continue to occur despite stringent traffic rules which were introduced by the government to help curb road carnage.
