GYEEDA, in conjunction with rLG Communications Limited, has launched the Youth in ICT module dubbed rLG/GYEEDA Enterprise Project in Koforidua.
About 65 persons from the New Juaben Municipality, who graduated after a six-month training programme, were provided with some working tools and mini kiosks to begin their own businesses.
The tools included tweezers, multi-meters, magnifying lenses and screw drivers, among others.
Speaking at the function, the Eastern Regional Director of GYEEDA/rLG Enterprise, Joshua Atta Mensah said under the first phase, over 1,000 beneficiaries were assisted to set up in the region.
He, however, cautioned beneficiaries against wantonness and promiscuity, adding that they must remain focused in order to achieve their goals and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
The programme will be replicated in Yilo Krobo, Akuapem and Afram plains.
rLG?s National Sales Manager, Kofi Yirenkyi said over 50,000 youth have been trained under the module.
The rLG/GYEEDA Enterprise Project is a back-up programme for beneficiaries of Youth in ITC and other individuals who want to be economically viable.
It is aimed at equipping the youth with tools and platforms to engage in sale and after-sale services.
The courses cover software, hardware, computer and phones repairs, assembling and entrepreneurship.
The Eastern Regional rLG training supervisor, Francis Torgbor Richter, said all youth, including JHS graduates, would be admitted freely.
