Kofi Brako, 21, on Saturday afternoon died after fishing and swimming in a river called Rudu at Akyem Tumfa in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the man, after fishing, decided to swim and reportedly lost his penis when something bit him in the river before losing his consciousness.

According to sources, it is a taboo to swim or fish in that river but Brako purportedly flouted the age-long
norm and was allegedly punished for it. A family source told this paper that the deceased kept pointing to his groin and manhood before passing out, adding that he was bleeding profusely before he was rushed to the Anyinam health centre and was pronounced dead on arrival.

?We are told that one is not supposed to fish or swim in the river. They say it is a taboo to swim or do any activity in the river,? the source said. The father of the deceased, Daniel Brako, also confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE,but failed to give details of what actually happened, adding that the boy had been buried and so he couldn’t comment further on it.

At the time of filing this report, the bereaved family had gathered at the Mr Daniel Brako?s house mourning.
