Tamale, March 28, GNA- The rival chief of Kpatinga, Na Nantogmah Ziblim who was arrested yesterday and kept in police custody in Tamale following unrest after his installation, has been released.

This led to the imposition of a curfew on the Kaptinga village.

According to sources within the police the rival chief is currently on police inquiry bail and is to report himself to the police at regular intervals.

The rival chief was installed by the Abudu gate which is a faction in the Yendi chieftaincy dispute after the Kampkuyana Abudulai Yakubu Andani, the regent of Dagbon, had earlier on installed a chief in the same village.

The Abudu gate at a press conference last week indicated that the regent of Dagbon had reneged on the road map to peaceĀ  by performing the funerals of late chiefs and installing new ones.

They therefore said they no longer regarded him as the regent of Dagbon and as a result would go ahead to install their own chiefs and this led to the installation of the rival chief for Kpatinga.
