Addressing a cross-section of people at Gomoa-Kyiren to round off a three-hour clean-up exercise, Nana Otwiwah said since every qualified voter was expecting excellent performance from the first ever female Electoral Commissioner, it was equally important for the citizenry to put partisan issues aside, and pray hard for the Commissioner.

The Queen-mother was optimistic that when the people pray to God with clean hearts and minds towards this objective, the Creator of all things would accord the new Electoral Commissioner the requisite divine power, wisdom, faith, courage, bravery and commitment, with which she could discharge this crucial national assignment successfully.

She said with the appointment of a woman as the Electoral Commissioner, the image of women in Ghana’s political history had been raised not only in the country but on the African continent, and the world at large.

“It therefore behoves on Ghanaian women, irrespective of political and other leanings, to eschew hatred, enveyness and other vices which does not promote peace and unity and strive to offer adequate moral support to the new electoral head”, Nana Otwiwah further advised.

She said the successes of the new Electoral Commissioner would proof to men in the country that what men could do, woman could also do it and even do it better.

Nana Otwiwah advised the new Electoral Head to rely solely and greatly on God for wisdom, divine guidance and direction at all times, and to also listen to all shades of opinions very well and finally come out with ideas and suggestions that would promote and enhance her work.

The Queen-mother also advised leaders and followers of the various political parties not to use the issue of the voters register to create confusion and disunity among the people.
