Religious bodies have been urged to educate their followers on the importance of adherence to environmental laws to help reduce environmental problems.
environmentDr. Andrew Akwasi Amoako, a Professor of Wood Products Engineering, made the call when he presented a paper on: ?The Environment? during the first Synod of the Konongo/Mampong Catholic Diocese at the Spiritan University College, at Ejisu.
He said given the sizes of the population, which congregate under religious bodies for ceremonies and activities their platforms could be a rallying point to sensitise the people on environmental issues as a way forward to stem environmental problems.
Dr Amoako suggested that the educational programmes could be done through workshops, talks, symposia, sketches and others.
He also said short environmental messages could be factored into sermons and homilies, which he explained were considered sacred by faith adherents, for effective compliance.
?Environmental stewardship is part of God?s commandments and there is the need to obey them,? he added.
