Rebekah Awuah of GBC 24 Television news channel has won the 2013 Financial Journalist of the year award at a modest but impressive ceremony in Accra. Rebekah was one of 16 award winners at the event held at the Airport West Hotel in Accra.??For her prize she receives a two-week all-expense paid trip to Washington to participate in the Spring Meeting of the World Bank Group in April next year.

 

The award is sponsored by the World Bank.??Other award winners include Emmanuel Kwabla h, now of the Business World Magazine, Benjamin Tetteh, of Joy FM, as well as Charles Benoni Okine of the Graphic Business newspaper.

 

The Business Radio Station of the year went to Citifm whilst the Business newspaper of the year went to Graphic Business newspaper.??Rayborn Bulley, Acting Head of Current Affairs of GBC radio was given the Livetime Achievement Award for his dedication to Financial Journalism in Ghana and Africa. The Chair of the Jury, Matilda Asante, Corporate Communications Manager of Access Bank congratulated the nominees stressing that all the entries by the nominees were very good.

 

She said though there were some poorly written entries a good number of them were well researched and met the criteria set for nomination.?Access Bank, the World Bank, EnterpriseLife Company, and Airport West Hotel supported the event put together by Masoe Productions West Africa under the auspices of the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists.
