akosua and rawlings

Former President, Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings last Saturday danced their hearts out to good highlife music at the Accra International Conference Centre.

Talking about his love for music, the ex-President said people will be depressed and miserable without good music.

?I do not know what the world will be like without music,? he stated.

The former Head of State made this statement when he mounted the stage to congratulate singer, dancer and choreographer, Akosua Adjepong, during her celebration of 25 years in the music industry.

The celebration, which was the climax of several activities including a health walk and breast cancer awareness campaign, was well- attended.

The guests included other high profile personalities such as the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Dzifa Abla Gomashie and some queenmothers.

Also present at the bash were Akosua Adjepong?s four sisters; television presenter, Akumaa Mama Zimbie; stand-up comedian DKB and boxer, Ayittey Powers.

Though the celebration did not start at the scheduled time, it was worth the wait as patrons enjoyed every bit of the show except the sessions with Sarkodie and MzVee who did not rock the fans as much as expected.

Brilliant performances from veterans like Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Paapa Yankson, A.B Crentsil, Nana Kwame Ampadu, Ekow Micah and Rex Omar who were all backed by the Immigration Band, made hiplife artistes like Sarkodie and MzVee lose some shine.

Edem and Becca, however, managed to get some of the fans on their feet.
Amandzeba, who came in like a preacher man with gospel songs and jama music, got the audience thrilled.

Fans were also treated to a wonderful surprise performance by popular actress, Nana Ama McBrown. She wore a military attire and later changed into a school uniform.

Akosua Adjepong joined her on stage at a point to perform tracks like ?Frema?, ?Born Again?, ?Kakyere Me?, ?Meye Obaa?, ?Meni Otawo? and ?Asiwa? with lots of dancing to the delight of all.

On the whole, it was an extremely refreshing and entertaining affair that patrons are likely to remember for a long time to come.

The Akosua Adjepong anniversary celebration was sponsored by Joy Dadi, Special Ice, Onga, National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Tobinco, Union Oil, Breast Care International and Allied Oil.
