Reverend Johnson Asare, Director of RLCC, who announced this during the closing of the 2016 Kids Camp in Tamale, said the decision to replicate the Kids Camp initiative in the two regions is to ensure that many children benefit from the initiative to transform their lives.

Kids Camp, an annual event held in the Northern Region, aims at helping to preserve the dignity of children and encouraging them to aspire for greater heights in life.

The event brings together children from all the 26 districts of the region to spend a week at a facility where a team of counsellors advise them on various life-building issues to inspire and guide them to lead meaningful lives.

This year’s event brought together 420 children, who were hosted at the RLCC.

Rev Asare said Kids Camp initiative formed part of RLCC’s efforts to amongst other things prevent young ones from migrating to the southern parts of the country to engage in menial jobs.

He said child care is the priority of RLCC and has been undertaking programmes such as school feeding, provision of school uniforms and water and sanitation facilities for children in the Tamale Metropolis and Gushegu District.
