Over 1000 persons with disabilities who were defrauded by Rev. T. A. Topper II, Foundation (RTATF), a Non-Governmental Organisation in Koforidua have called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to help them to retrieve their passport size pictures.

The Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) has therefore appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to help them to collect the registration fees they paid to the NGO and their passport pictures in custody of the NGO.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Daniel Agyekum, the Eastern Regional Chairman of GSPD said, the efforts of their national executive and the police had not yielded the desired results after six months .

Mr Agyekum, said the incident led people with disability from different parts of Eastern Region numbering over 1,000 to register with the NGO and paid a registration fee of GH¢ 10.00 each with two passport size pictures at the cost of GH¢ 5.00 .

He said they were also made to buy a customized T-Shirt of RTATF at a cost of GH¢ 20.00.

Mr Agyekum said, after the initial publication of the story, he received countless calls from executives of GSPD and radio stations promising to help retrieve their money and their passport pictures for them, but up till now, it had yielded no fruit.

He revealed that the Eastern Regional branch of GSPD secretary, Mr Banny Oda, resigned due to this fraud, after failing to get financial support from the association to take the matter to court.

Mr Agyekum said, Ms Topper was still carrying her activities with their passport pictures and money still in her possession.

All phone calls to Ms Topper for her side of the story has gone unanswered.

Although she promised GNA after the incident that she was going to Atwia Mountains in Ashanti Region for a one week fasting and prayers for divine ideas on how to re-organise the programme to give her support to the people with disabilities in the region, she did not answer my calls I placed to her.
