Mr Kor, Central Regional Director of Education (RDE), who was elevated barely a week ago, said combining the two values would ensure productivity.

He recounted instances during which the exhibition of the two values had resulted in great achievements and said; ?if you don?t know where you are going, remember where you are coming from.?

Mr Kor gave the advice at a send-off party for Mr Kofi Sarfo Kantanka, former RDE, Mr Augustus Nii Lante Cleland, a former acting RDE and some retiring staff of the service.

Mr Kantanka, currently the RDE of the Ashanti Region, was the Central RDE from 2010 to 2013 while Mr Cleland acted for a few months afterwards, concurrently as the RDE of the Western Region.

The event brought together GES staff and related associations, representatives from ministries, departments, and agencies as well as families of the personalities honoured.

Mr Kor expressed gratitude to the various metropolitan, municipal, and district education directorates for their support and called for more support to enable him to discharge the duties of his new office effectively.

The Twifo Atti Morkwa District Director of Education, who represented Mr Kantanka, relayed his ?heart-felt appreciation? to the directorate for recognising his efforts and honouring him.

Mr Cleland expressed his gratitude, congratulated retired staff and urged those nearing their retirement to prepare well in order to avoid unnecessary stress during retirement.

The two former RDEs and the retiring staff and were presented with citations and parcels.

The citations described the former directors as principled, dedicated, humble and hardworking individuals who contributed immensely to the maintenance of the standard of education in the region while retiring staff were praised for their devotion and long service.
