Provide Schools With Adequate Boarding Facilities-naana Marfo

Doris Naana-Marfo

Doris Naana-Marfo, the Headmistress of Bomaa Senior High School (BOSS) in the Tano North District of the Brong Ahafo Region has appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education to provide the school with adequate boarding facilities to accommodate the numerous students.

According to her, a former National Best Teacher, the school has been in existence for about 30 years and attracted students from far and near.

Mrs. Naana-Marfo indicated that most of the students were renting houses in town because the school?s hostel facility could not accommodate them.

Many students who gain admission to the school finally go away because they cannot be accommodated, she indicated.

Mrs. Naana-Marfo stated this during an interaction with the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North, Freda Prempeh, who paid a working visit to the school as part of her tour of the constituency.

The headmistress mentioned challenges facing BOSS as inadequate accommodation for both students and teachers, lack of potable water, classrooms, dining hall and sick-bay, as well as books.

She called on the MP to provide facilities to promote effective teaching and learning in the school.

Hon. Freda Prempeh, for her part, promised to provide a mechanized borehole for the school in a few weeks? time, as well as 100 bags of cement to support the on-going administration block project, which had stalled.

The MP challenged the Tano North District Assembly to prioritize its activities to accelerate the development of the district.
