Prof Patrick Utomi, Chairman of the Pan African Trade and Investment Committee (PAFTRAC), has underscored Africa’s urgent need to prioritize domestic and international financing options.

This call highlights shifting global demographics, where many continents face ageing populations.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Point of View with Bernard Avle, Prof Utomi highlighted Africa’s unique demographic advantage—a youthful population poised to sustain future economic growth.

“Africa should be taken seriously in terms of domestic and international financing because we are in a transiting global order. Continents like Europe are ageing rapidly, while Africa remains youthful,” Prof Utomi emphasized.

He stressed the importance of investing in Africa’s youth to harness their potential and transform them from mere statistics into valuable human capital.

According to Prof Utomi, this investment is crucial for Africa to leverage its demographic dividend effectively.

“As these young people evolve into human capital, they will provide a significant demographic dividend for the continent,” he concluded, urging concerted efforts to capitalize on Africa’s demographic advantage through strategic financial investments.
