A statement issued by Mr Raphael Apetorgbor, the Media Relations Officer of PUSAG, and copied to the Ghana News said, the advisors would help link up alumni and students into opportunities that may exist in and outside the country.

It said the board would also help mobilise all members in the exchange of ideas and act as advocacy role for an accredited member institution.

It noted that the board would help in the realisation of the vision and mission of PUSAG through effective effort and it would ensure that the NEC is ably supported with ideas and links in corporate Ghana to achieve manifesto.

The statement said the advisors would meet quarterly to discuss issues, share expertise, and provide one another confidential help to achieve their goals.

It said the advisory board comprises former NEC members, past senators and any other past student of an accredited private university who may be deemed to be relevant to the association based on a strong recommendation by an active associate.

Speaking at the launch in Oyibi, near Accra, Mr Isaac Adjin Bonney, Convener of the group advised associates to bring on board their expertise and experience acquired so far in their professional careers and social lives to help achieve PUSAG dream.

He also advised students to work hard and take their studies serious by seeking knowledge at any available time.

Mr Adjin Bonney charged government through the National Accreditation Board to set a specific maximum duration for affiliation under the public university in order to stop them from milking private universities.

He called on government through the National Accreditation Board to issue charters for institutions that are due to them.

The Convener asked potential students and parents to endeavour to find out if private institutions are accredited before applying for admission.

PUSAG is the mother body of all accredited private universities and institutions in Ghana

In 2005, the Association was formed by five institutions namely Central University College, Methodist University College of Ghana, Zenith University College, Valley View University and Pentecost University College.

Currently PUSAG has a membership of more than 38 private universities with a combined student population of about 50,000.
